Waxahatchee‘s new album Out in the Storm comes out this week (7/14) via Merge, and the whole thing is streaming now. Main member Katie Crutchfield recorded the album with her sister Allison Crutchfield, Katherine Simonetti, Ashley Arnwine (Pinkwash), and Katie Harkin (Sky Larkin, touring member of Sleater-Kinney), and it was produced by John Agnello (Sonic Youth, Dinosaur Jr). Talking about the album, Katie said, “Ivy Tripp doesn’t really have any resolution. It’s a lot of beating around the bush, and superficially trying to see my life clearly, but just barely scratching the surface. Out in the Storm digs into what I was going through without blinking. It’s a very honest record about a time in which I was not honest with myself.” Listen to the whole thing at NPR.

Waxahatchee also begin a tour the day the album comes out in Philly, and they hit Brooklyn the next night at Warsaw (7/15). The Brooklyn show is with Cayetana and Snail Mail. Buy tickets or win them. All dates are listed below.
