Luke Temple of Here We Go Magic has a new album that he’s releasing under the pseudonymn Art Feynman — which comes from combining the names of influential cult artist Arthur Russell and physicist/musician Richard Feynman. Titled Blast Off Through the Wicker, Temple mixes krautrock, synthpop, Malian music, highlife, dub, and more into a warm, melodic, engaging record. It’s all the more impressive when you learn he made the whole thing on a cassette four-track recorder. You can check out lead single “Can’t Stand It” and “Feeling Good About Feeling Good,” below.
Blast Off Through the Wicker is out this Friday, July 14 via Western Vinyl. Luke, as Art, will be on the road with former Stereolab front woman Laetitia Sadier in August, including a show at NJ’s WFMU Monty Hall on 8/4 (tickets). All dates are listed below.
Laetitia plays without Art at Brooklyn’s Parch Church Co-Op on September 6 (tickets).
